An Old Negative

While digging through my boxes of b/w silver prints from decades ago, I came across some shots that I hadn't remembered making or printing. I had to hang a bunch on my wall to live with for a while. This shot was one of them. Taken with a Leica M6, 21mm lens, Fuji Neopan 400 film, and printed in my wet darkroom in 1994.

The group at the time was called Solo and they hung out on West Broadway in SoHo when the neighborhood was just emerging from it's long history of being blue-collar and warehouses. I've seen this group go through various incarnations over the years, and some of them still perform DooWop music in SoHo on Spring Street. You can catch them usually on Saturday and/or Sunday afternoon.

And one more thing .....

Okay. this is totally non-photographic, so don't read any further if that's what you're looking for. The name of the blog is, after all, The World as I see it!

I couldn't be more pleased with the results of the Israeli elections. And I couldn't be happier to see that our illustrious president got his butt handed to him for all his supposed meddling in the election process of a sovereign state. Now maybe Mr. Obama should just do his job for the remainder of his term by seeing to the myriad of difficulties that need resolving in the United States, and stop trying to solve everyone else's problems. I'm sure he believes that if only everyone would behave the way he sees fit, the world would be a better place. But I learned quite some time ago from my Twelve Step brothers, that's just not the way the World works. And acceptance is the key - to everything.
